The Gruppo Folklorico Naxos, directed by cav. Antonino Buda, is a health-focused studies in search of folk traditions which aims to recover the rich cultural heritage and to revive through the scenic transposition of pastoralist lifestyle split, marinara, social, political and religious.

Negli anni ’60 alla scomparsa del suo fondatore, il nipote Nino Buda prende in mano le redini del Gruppo Folk Naxos (a cui aveva già collaborato) portando con sé la sua esperienza di giornalista, musicista e uomo di teatro. Il nuovo “art director”, ereditando la passione familiare, punta sulla severità della ricerca delle tradizioni locali nell’intento di recuperare un patrimonio destinato a scomparire e farlo rivivere attraverso la trasposizione scenica di spaccati di vita contadina, marinara, sociale e politica. Con l’aiuto di vecchi elementi, raccoglie un pugno di giovani, allontanandoli dai pericoli della strada, li fa innamorare delle loro tradizioni puntando sull’orgoglio per la loro identità e l’amore per la Terra siciliana. Dopo anni di serio impegno, di studi nel settore, e una estesa attività di indagine che lo porta a frugare nella memoria delle cose e della gente, ottiene fama e riconoscimenti in Italia e all’Estero, contribuendo così a far conoscere il nome e la cultura di Giardini Naxos e della Sicilia ovunque nel mondo. Nel 1972 gli viene conferita dal Presidente della Finlandia Uhro Kekkonen l’onorificenza di Cavaliere della Rosa Bianca di Finlandia al valore artistico grazie al lusinghiero livello raggiunto.

The simple but significant ceremony took place a few days ago in the Town Hall. In Buda, President of historic folk group "Naxos", was conferred a due recognition for the tireless work of defence, development and transmission of Sicilian folk culture and for making known the name of Giardini Naxos worldwide performing with the singing in Europe, Africa, America and Japan. The important praise Crown yet another affirmation of the Maestro Buda who last year was awarded the appointment of Father of folklore for the year 2014 in San Giovanni Rotondo in the context of the national award that is awarded annually by the Italian Federation of folk traditions to meritorious researchers and personalities who have distinguished themselves in the work of Defense and enhancement of popular culture of their community or region as well as being already vested with the accolades of Ambassador of Sicilian culture, gold medalist of the Sicilian region, Knight of the White Rose of Finland, Knight of the Republic. 

After delivery of the parchment and commemorative plaques of merit by the authorities intervened Francis Bottari which wove the praises of cav. Buda Recalling his most important goals. 

A recognition that il maestro Nino Buda, after touching words of thanks, wanted to dedicate to the guys in the Band Naxos both past and present, moving all participants.
